'Talvar' trailer: Watch the three versions of Arushi murder case

The trailer of Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming film ‘Talvar’ based on the controversial Arushi Talwar murder case was launched in Mumbai in a crime scene-like set-up.

Meghna along with the film’s lead actors Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma and Neeraj Kabi and writer cum co-producer Vishal Bhardwaj were present at the event on Saturday, August 22.

Konkona and Neeraj play the role of Arushi’s parents while Irrfan plays the role of an investigative officer.

Speaking about the film Vishal said, “When we started researching on the case, we found bizarre contradictory things and each point of view had its own conviction. So, we thought why not present all these three versions. It had three different point of views of a murder. So, we have presented the conviction of all three."

Meghna who had earlier directed films like ‘Filhal’, ‘Hu Tu Tu’ etc observed, “With this, I have stepped out of everything that is comfortable and that itself was exciting.” According to Konkona and Irrfan, the film has covered every aspect of the case. The ‘Lunchbox’ actor added that the powerful emotions in the story compelled him to work in the film.

The first poster of the film featuring Irrfan was released on Twitter by Meghna the night before the trailer launch.

‘Talvar’ which also stars Tabu is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. The film will release on October 2.
